Chilli Bajji

I was with friend Donald some weeks back, roaming through the streets of Little India in Singapore. We chanced upon a gathering of Tamil (south Indian) dudes chillin not unlike villins in the afternoon.

What was it that attracted their attention? Well, it wasn't the foodstuff we shortly picked up but an Indian soap opera. Every afternoon the Indian chaps hang out all abouts little India - comprising much of the labor force in Singapore, these cats are cashing checks for the fam back home and living with their fellow laborers. Nice fellows.

But friend Donald and I went to inspect the local food-vendor's wares. Listed was Chilli Bajji. And Chilli Bajji was bought.

More like chilli boring. Actually, this 1 dollar (overpriced) pick-up was a nice south-Indian take on the corndog. But in this case, it's a corn chili. Inspect.

The heat factor was underwhelming, despite the cache of seeds.

But never fear, most south Indian cuisine warms the palate and the tum-tum on the cheap. More to come re: DHOSA!
